James Redfern

Renowned for his sense of integrity and sheer professionalism, James is one of the industry’s most innovative practitioners. As a director at Marshall White, he also heads-up our training program, passing on his accumulated knowledge to new generations of real estate practitioners
The true test of a real estate agent should be measured by their ability to operate successfully in all market conditions. In his 30 years in the business, James has experienced every real estate climate, showing the effectiveness of his selling technique in markets that have favoured both buyers and sellers.
Fundamental to James’ success is the vast network of buyers he has assembled over the years. A list that is increasing daily as a result of the constant referrals from loyal vendors and past purchasers with whom he has established strong relationships. Rather than waiting for buyers to just show up, he proactively utilises that client base to source prospective buyers.
Whether the property is being sold off market, privately, through Expressions of Interest or at auction, James will tailor the campaign to maximise the buyer base on a local, national or even international level. He is in regular contact with interstate and international property consultants and relocation agents who value his Melbourne insights.
While experienced in every property category, James’ particular focus is substantial family homes, interesting residences and iconic properties. He has an established reputation for selling some of Melbourne’s most substantial and prestigious properties often to buyers sourced from his extensive network. He has established price records for luxury properties in Canterbury, Toorak, Elwood, Glen Iris, and also down the Mornington Peninsula.
Selling a property under the hammer is often the aim of an auction, however when a property is passed in, as is often the case in the current climate, it is the agent’s negotiation skills that come to the fore. An astute, resolute and highly experienced negotiator, James’ always has his vendor’s interests top of mind when negotiating a result.
Renowned for his sense of integrity and sheer professionalism, James is one of the industry’s most innovative practitioners. As a director at Marshall White, he also heads-up our training program, passing on his accumulated knowledge to new generations of real estate practitioners.
As passionate as James is about real estate he maintains a healthy life-work balance. With a keen interest in the arts and antiques, James loves attending concerts and galleries with his two older daughters and weekends away with his partner Madeline, daughter Poppy and son Harry.

Shannan Whitney

Moving to Sydney from Tamworth to enrol in university, I never quite made it to a lecture. I started working part-time for a local real estate agent to make some money to pay for my studies, mainly support work at open houses, and found I was soon working more and more, eventually becoming an agent in my own right.

I noticed a young Ivan Bresic coming up through the ranks of the agency we both worked and we soon formed a highly successful team. While we shared many similar traits and beliefs, I gravitated toward Ivan because Ivan was good at everything I wasn’t. We complimented and supported each other perfectly.

I knew that the real estate industry in Sydney was yet to find a true identity. There were details about it that I knew could be done better. No one had made the connection between property and lifestyle which seemed so obvious and similar connections where already being made across other sectors of business.

Because real estate deals with an essential part of every person’s life – the literal roof over our heads – I believe that real estate agents have a responsibility to support the community. Together with Ivan, BresicWhitney’s aim is to reinvent the contemporary real estate experience in Sydney.

I am a collector of Australian and international contemporary art. As a strong supporter of the Australian arts, I am a member of the newly formed MCA Foundation Company.

My interests extend to philanthropy activities in various community education and social welfare organisations and projects, around Sydney's inner city regions of Darlinghurst and Woolloomooloo.
